Starting the parade

Civil Air Patrol Flyover

This year the parade begins with something special overhead. The Civil Air Patrol's Indianapolis Senior Squadron will open the 4th of July Parade with a flyover. Keep your eyes on the sky as the parade steps off at 1:00 PM on the Fourth.

Chartered by Congress in 1941, the Civil Air Patrol is a nonprofit public service organization and the civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. Its volunteers fly most of the nation's inland search and rescue missions, lead aerospace and STEM education, and mentor young people through cadet programs. The Indianapolis Senior Squadron is an adult unit based in Fishers, flying community missions and cadet orientation flights across Indiana.

"Volunteers serving America's communities, saving lives, and shaping futures."

About the celebration

For generations, the Boone County 4th of July Committee has thrown Lebanon its biggest party of the year. It is the kind of hometown Fourth that people fly back for, from all across the country, just so they do not miss it.

In 2026 that tradition meets a once in a lifetime milestone: America's 250th birthday.
